Our Mission:

CEP prepares young people for active citizenship through innovative civics programs and curricula. We work in partnership with public schools, universities, courthouses, historical societies, and youth groups.  Our students gain a rich understanding of American law and government and acquire critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and oral advocacy skills that promote effective civic participation.

CEP Resources & Programs

For High School Teachers

Host a Marshall-Brennan Teaching Fellow
CEP places pairs of students from Northeastern University School of Law into social studies classrooms in the Greater Boston area to help teach 10-week learning modules on the Constitution. Prior to placement in a classroom, the fellows take a seminar that trains them to teach the We the Students curriclum, which features Supreme Court decisions about education and the rights of students. Please contact us if you are interested in hosting a Marshall-Brennan Teaching Fellow in your classroom during the 2006-07 school year.     Read more

Know-the-Law Programs
CEP runs Know-the-Law programs for local schools, community organizations, and youth groups. We often conduct these programs on civic and commemorative holidays, such as Constitution Day (September 17), Bill of Rights Day (December 15), MLK Day (February 15), Independence Day (July 4), and the anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision (May 17). For example, for Bill of Rights Day 2006, we sent 9 trained attorneys from Staples, Inc. into Framignham High School to teach a special unit on the freedom of expression inside school.     Read more
