CEP prepares young people for active citizenship through innovative civics programs and curricula. We work in partnership with public schools, universities, courthouses, historical societies, and youth groups.  Our students gain a rich understanding of American law and government and acquire critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and oral advocacy skills that promote effective civic participation.

Current Programs

Summer Law Institute

Extended Application Deadline: June 1, 2007

This summer, CEP will be offering an exciting, week-long summer program at Northeastern University School of Law for high school students interested in learning more about the American legal system. Participating students will study the United States Constitution by exploring landmark decisions about freedom of expression and the rights of students. On the last day of the Institute, students will have the opportunity to argue a moot court case at the historic John Adams Courthouse, home of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.

The Institute will meet daily from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at Northeastern University School of Law and will feature fun, interactive class trips to local sites such as the Massachusetts State House and the Moakley Federal Courthouse. We will offer the following three sessions of the Institute:

  • Session I: Monday, July 23 - Friday, July 27
  • Session II: Monday, August 6 - Friday, August 10
  • Session III: Monday, August 20 - Friday, August 24

Tuition for this program is $500, which covers all teaching materials, transportation costs for all field trips, lunch, drinks, snacks, and Northeastern law school gear. Full and half scholarships are available.
