Current Programs
Know-the-Law Programs
CEP runs Know-the-Law Programs for local schools, community organizations, and youth groups. We often conduct these programs on civic and commemorative holidays, such as Constitution Day (September 17), Bill of Rights Day (December 15), MLK Day (February 15), Independence Day (July 4), and the anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision (May 17).
Bill of Rights Day
December 15, 2007 will mark the 216th anniversary of ratification of the Bill of Rights. To celebrate, CEP has designed a special learning module on the First Amendment that explores the issue of freedom of expression inside school. If you are interested using this module in your social studies classroom, please contact us.

The module is designed to be taught to high school juniors or seniors over the course of 3 classroom hours. The module culminates with a moot court exercise, based on a recent First Amendment case, in which students play the roles of attorneys for a student, attorneys for a high school, and judges.

Constitution Day 2007
Federal law currently requires all schools receiving federal funds to devote a day on or near September 17 to teaching their students about the Constitution. CEP works with schools and educators to develop programs and learning modules that help students gain a deeper understanding of the Constitution and its historical and current relevance.
