Our Mission

Civic Ed Project promotes youth civic engagement through educational programs and curricula that provide teens with the knowledge and skills they need to actively participate in the civic life of their community.  We achieve this goal by working collaboratively with high school students, teachers, and administrators, as well as school districts, colleges, law schools, courts, community- based organizations, youth groups, and other educational non-profits.

Current Projects

Bill of Rights Day Program

December 15 - 22, 2009, the Civic Ed Project coordinated the fourth annual Bill of Rights Day Program at Framingham High School, a service project for members of the Staples, Inc. legal team.

Held around the anniversary of ratification of the Bill of Rights on December 15th, 1791, this program helps students gain a better understanding of the Bill of Rights through an exploration of landmark cases involving free speech rights of students.

The program is taught by trained volunteer lawyers and paralegals who run a moot court exercise exploring the First Amendment rights of students.

Accolades

"Thank you so much for your excellent presentation today. It is so rare to have such amazing presenters who are not used to a room full of adolescent kids, especially at lunch block. I had a few after school that just told me how they enjoyed the "debate-like" atmosphere. It was a very beneficial experience for them."
