Our Mission

The Civic Ed Project prepares youth for active citizenship and inspires lifelong participation in our democracy. We achieve this mission by designing and implementing civics programs and curricula and by helping schools foster a climate for youth civic engagement and learning.

Volunteer

There are many great ways to get involved with the Civic Ed Project as a volunteer. Please e-mail your resume and a cover letter to Roy Karp if you are interested in any of the following opportunities:

Board of Directors

The Civic Ed Project is currently growing its board.  This is a great way to get involved.

Civic Schools Design Team

The Civic Schools Design Team is a group of students, teachers, school administrators, and academics interested in reviving the civic mission of schools.  The team meets quarterly and provides guidance on our Civic Schools initiative. After the pilot process, we believe the design team may evolve into a permanent advisory committee.

Student Internships

The Civic Ed Project has hosted student interns of all ages, including high school, college, and graduate students. Each spring, we host one  student from the Community Charter School of Cambridge,  thorugh the school's senior internship program.  Last year's intern, Gaelle Denize, continues to work with us as an intern and our first youth  member of the Board of Directors.

Volunteers

Do you have some talent or expertise that could benefit the Civic Ed Project?  We are currently working with some great volunteers from diverse fields, including education research, graphic design, and communications.
