Student Interns
Civic Ed Project has hosted student interns of all ages. Last year, we hosted a high school intern from Community Charter School of Cambridge, Wale Wright, thorugh the school's senior internship program. Wale worked directly with project director Roy Karp on several different projects and participated in a number of planning meetings during spring 2009.This spring, we are hosting another senior from CCSC, Gaelle Denize, through the same program. Gaelle will be working on our new RJ in Schools initiative, currently in the planning stage. Gaelle was also one of two students to win both our fall and winter Marshall-Brennan Moot Court Competitions at Northeastern. In March, she will be flying to Philadelphia with seven other Boston area students to compete in the 2nd Annual National Marshall-Brennan Moot Court Competition.
This spring, we also began working with the Field Experience Program at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). Through this program, we are hosting a Harvard education student, Andrew Rothman, who is currently teaching at Another Course to College (ACC) in Brighton. Andrew is working with the project director to develop a training manual for students, teachers, and school administrators interested in bring restorative justice to their schools.
In the past, we have also hosted summer interns. In summer 2009, we hosted Marisa Prince, a second year law student at Boston College Law School. As a high school student herself, Marisa was involved with Project HIP-HOP and the ACLU of Massachusetts, and believes deeply in the importance of civic and law-related education for youth.
