About Us
Civic Ed Project was founded in 2002 to promote the civic literacy and youth civic engagement through civic and law-related education programs and curricula. We have been able to achieve this goal through collaboration with a wide variety of partners including high schools, school districts, colleges, law schools, libraries, historical societies, courthouses, community-based groups, corporations, and other non-profit organizations.
Civic Ed Project was incorporated in spring 2003 as a non-profit organization and has 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. We are currently governed by a five-member Board of Directors that meets annually and periodically throughout the year.
The organization is currently developing an exciting new initiative, TEENPEACE, that will train high school students to use restorative practices to resolve conflicts and build a culture of repect at their schools and in the community. The heart of the program will be a youth leadership program that will prepare teens to design and run peacemaking circles, run RJ workshops for their peers and middle school students.
Civic Ed Project recently launched an Annual Fund to support our work with youth in the Greater Boston area. We hope you will consider making a contribution. We also work with great student interns, who help us achieve our goals. Last year, we hosted an intern from Community Charter School of Cambridge, Wale Wright, through his school's senior internship program. This year, we are hosting Gaelle Denize through the same program. This spring, we also began working with Field Experience Program at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE).
